Day 6. We just left BaseCamp behind and the legendary E69 is taking us higher and higher… straight towards Nordkapp View Point — the edge of the world. ????
Lakes everywhere. Shimmering like liquid silver under the midnight sun. Only endless wild tundra glowing gold as far as the eye can see. People cycle here from all over the world just to feel this silence. And now we are driving through this same magical landscape. ????????️
This is my THIRD time driving from Stockholm into the Arctic Circle — 1999, 2009, and now in 2026. Still chasing the sun that never sets. If you have never seen the Arctic, you have not seen anything. You have not truly been born. ❄️
In just a few minutes, we will stand on the Nordkapp Plateau… touch the iconic Globe Monument… and look out over the endless BARENTS SEA at the end of Europe. ????️????️

THE ROAD TO THE END OF EUROPE
???? Our Route: BaseCamp ➡️ E69 ➡️ Nordkapp View Point
The E69 is the world’s northernmost public road, stretching 129 km through the breathtaking Finnmark region. It literally ends at the North Cape plateau parking lot. To reach Magerøya island, we drive through the incredible North Cape Tunnel — 6.8 km long, plunging 212 meters below sea level. The tundra, the Arctic Ocean views, and the feeling of driving through this lunar landscape are absolutely breathtaking.
✨ TOP ATTRACTIONS ALONG THE E69 & AROUND NORDKAPP
????️ Nordkapphallen (North Cape Hall)
The massive underground visitor centre built in 1988 features a café, restaurant, post office, souvenir shop, a small museum, and a panoramic cinema where you can watch films about this amazing region. You can also send postcards stamped with the iconic North Cape postmark — proof that you have reached the far north!
???? The Iconic Globe Monument
Erected in 1978, this steel globe has become the symbol of North Cape and sits on the very edge of the plateau. Standing by it truly makes you feel you are at the “end of Europe”.
???? Knivskjellodden Hike – The True North Cape
For the TRUE adventurers, this 17–18 km hike takes you to the actual northernmost point of Europe, 1.5 km further north than the Nordkapp plateau. The trail starts from a small parking area about 6–7 km before reaching Nordkapp, and you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the North Cape promontory and the endless BARENTS SEA.
????️ Honningsvåg
This charming, colourful fishing village is the gateway to the North Cape and the northernmost city in mainland Norway with about 2,500 residents. It is a common stop for cruise ships and offers a variety of services for travellers.
????️ BaseCamp North Cape (Hytte Camp)
The world’s northernmost mainland campsite, located only 14–16 km from Nordkapp, by a small lake where reindeer often graze right on the campground. We stayed here and it was absolutely magical! ✨
???? Kirkeporten Rock Arch
A famous natural rock arch near Skarsvåg that frames the North Cape Plateau perfectly — a photographer’s dream!
???? Skarsvåg – The World’s Northernmost Fishing Village
With only about 60 residents, this peaceful village offers the quiet life of a real Arctic fishing community. Reindeer often wander near the road, and in summer the endless daylight creates a surreal atmosphere.
???? Children of the World Monument
Not far from the Globe Monument, you will find seven large circular bronze plaques created by children from different parts of the world, unveiled in 1989.
