One of my favorite places to walk.
Rogaland Arboret was established in 1972 as a foundation of Rogaland county and the municipalities of Gjesdal, Hå, Kleppe, Randaberg, Sandnes, Sola, Stavanger and Time, following the initiative of Bjørn A. Stangebye. The event that made the establishment possible was the fire in 1970 which left 500 acres of forest in ashes in the area that is now the Arboret. In the years following its foundation, the arboretum received gifts in the form of money, plants, equipment and free labour.
