This time-lapse was shot between 02:31 and 03:02 (BST) on the morning of 26th June and shows noctilucent clouds in the northern sky over Leicestershire.

Noctilucent roughly translates to "night shining" in Latin and you can see why. The clouds form at extremely high altitudes of around 200,000 feet up in the layer of the atmosphere known as the Mesosphere. They contain mostly dust and ice and are only visible between the end of May and the beginning of August when the sun below the horizon illuminates them.
