Welcome to Music in the Atrium! Today’s concert features violinist Alex Toskov and pianist Victoria Kogan.

ALEX TOSKOV, winner of The Glenn Gould School Chamber Music Competition 2011, is a recipient of various scholarships such as Norwegian government scholarship, The Royal Conservatory full tuition scholarship and Serbian Fund for highly gifted students. In September 2012, after a successful audition, Alex became a member of Sinfonia Toronto.

He participated at St. Gallen Festival in Austria 2004, Stavanger Chamber Music Festival in Norway 2009, Music Niagara Festival 2011 and Colours of Music Festival 2012 & 2013. During his studies he played various concerts in string quartets as a violinist and a violist. He performed as a soloist with Serbian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Alex Toskov was a concertmaster of Bayreuth Festival Orchestra in 2006, Deutsch-Skandinavische Jugend Philharmonie 2009 and was a member of Santiago de Chile Philharmonic Orchestra in 2007/2008. During his studies in Norway 2008-2010, Mr. Toskov was a regular substitute musician in Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra. Recently, Alex has been a part of Broadway musical Kinky Boots at The Royal Alexandra Theatre, appeared as principal violinist at Toronto Concert Orchestra, and has recorded various soundtracks for CBC's Murdoch Mysteries. He also performed with Diana Krall, Josh Groban and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. In October 2010 he was invited to perform on a gala concert hosted by a famous cellist YoYo Ma in prestigious Koerner Hall in Toronto, Canada.

Russian born Victoria Korchinskaya-Kogan is one of the most significant pianist of our time. Praised as “an admirably gifted performer’’ by Yuri Temirkanov, “the pianist of great talent, having extraordinary skills and boundless musicality” by Mikhail Pletnev and a “true artist ”by Yefim Bronfman, Victoria is the winner of The Stravinsky Piano Competition, Andorra Piano Competition, E-Piano Competition in Minneapolis and I International Piano Competition In Korea among others.

Victoria received her M.M. and D.M.A. from the Moscow Conservatory where she studied with Lev Vlassenko, Sergei Dorensky and Pavel Nersessian. Her masterclasses include studying with Andreas Stayer, Dmitry Bashkirov, Claude Frank, William Nabore and Jose Feghali.

Faculty in Moscow Conservatory since 2007 and Seokyeong University in Seoul since 2014, Victoria is also a frequent guest of famous international music Festivals, such as The Corinthian Summer Music Festival in Austria, Summit Music Festival and Mannes Keyboard Festival in the USA, the Musiktage Koblenz in Germany, Nuit Classiques de Ramatuelle and Nuits du Piano d’Erbalunga in France.
