BREAKING CRUISE NEWS! MAJOR Itinerary Change! 26-Foot Seas Cancel Norway & Iceland!

We have a MAJOR itinerary change aboard Majestic Princess!

As we sailed away from Haugesund, Norway, our captain announced that a large storm system is developing along our planned route, with seas expected to reach approximately 26 feet.

Because of the storm, our upcoming port calls in Skjolden, Norway and Reykjavik, Iceland have been cancelled.

We are certainly disappointed. Iceland was one of the destinations we were particularly excited to visit on this Fire & Ice transatlantic cruise.

But keeping the guests, crew and ship safe comes first.

Instead, Princess has arranged a new port call in Belfast on Thursday, giving us a long day there and allowing Majestic Princess to take a different route and shelter from the worst of the storm.

Allison also talks about something she heard almost immediately after the announcement: passengers questioning whether the itinerary really needed to change because they had experienced large waves on other cruises.

Her thought is simple — we need to trust the captain, the officers onboard and the shoreside teams making these decisions. Changing a cruise itinerary this dramatically is no small thing, and these decisions aren't made lightly.

Sometimes cruising means accepting that weather can change even the best-made plans.

We're disappointed to miss Iceland, but we'll get there another time — and we're excited to take you along on our unexpected return to Belfast!

Diese fünf Highlights erwarten dich im Video:

1. Haraldshaugen – Norwegens Nationaldenkmal erinnert an die Einigung des Landes unter Harald Schönhaar.
2. Avaldsnes – St.-Olav-Kirche, Nordvegen-Geschichtszentrum und Wikingerhof erzählen von einem frühen Machtzentrum Norwegens.
3. Steinsfjellet – ein leicht erreichbarer Aussichtspunkt mit weitem Panorama über Haugesund, Inseln und Nordsee.
4. Skudeneshavn – eine denkmalgeschützte Küstenstadt mit engen Gassen und mehr als hundert weißen Holzhäusern.
5. Langfoss – ein 612 Meter hoher Wasserfall, der spektakulär in den Åkrafjord stürzt.

Haraldshaugen lässt sich mit Küstenweg, Bus oder Taxi erreichen. Nach Avaldsnes und Skudeneshavn fahren öffentliche Busse, doch an Kreuzfahrttagen solltest du Fahrplan und Rückfahrt genau prüfen. Langfoss liegt weit außerhalb und eignet sich am besten für einen organisierten Ganztagesausflug. Wetterfeste Kleidung gehört auch im Sommer ins Gepäck.

Can you combine serious photography with a family holiday? I took my Nikon Z8 on a Norwegian fjords cruise to find out. With spectacular landscapes, three stops in Norway and plenty of camera gear, it sounded like the perfect opportunity for some landscape photography, but photographing on a cruise turned out to be very different from going away specifically to make photographs.

In this video I look back at the images I made in Skjolden, Olden and Haugesund, including some that worked, plenty that didn’t, and the reasons why. We’ll look at the effect of limited time, poor access to the best light, organised excursions and, perhaps most importantly, the difficulty of switching between being on holiday and being properly focused on photography.

This isn’t really a video about whether cruises are good or bad for photographers. It’s about what serious photography actually asks of us in terms of time, attention and freedom, and what happens when those things have to compete with everything else.
