World's largest underwater restaurant is in Norway. The "Under" - located in Lindesnes, Norway - is also Europe's first underwater restaurant. In this underwater restaurant, guests can enjoy seafood in the company of fish - five meters below the surface of the water. Eating in an underwater restaurant is clearly awesome. Would you eat in the world's biggest underwater restaurant in Norway? Write us in the comments...

The building looks like it has simply slipped off the rocks into the sea. Up to 100 guests can enjoy a 15 to 18 course meal. 'Under' also means 'Wonder' in Norwegian! And it certainly does live up to its name.

Aptly dubbed Under, Inhabitat reports that the establishment will provide viewers with a panoramic view of the seabed.

Diners will also be able eat locally procured seafood while taking in the view of underwater life.

Under is said to be heated via thermal energy gathered from the seabed, and it will also double as a marine research center.

The restaurant is set to open in early 2019, reported CNN.

On Friday the 27th of July 2018, Europe’s first underwater restaurant was installed in Lindesnes - Norway’s southernmost point. The installation has garnered mass media attention and promises to ‘provide a culinary journey into the unknown depths’. The restaurant aims to create a new niche in food tourism and, arguably, underwater buildings as well. Time Magazine believes it’s ‘something out of a science fiction novel’, whilst Dagens Næringsliv (DN) writes that ‘the building resembles a crossing between civil infrastructure and a whale.’

Under, on Norway's south coast, will have a submerged restaurant and champagne bar.

Under will accommodate 80 to 100 guests, who'll enter the restaurant at the shoreline's edge and then walk down below the ocean.

Under - due to open in February 2018 near Båly - will be a concrete structure tipping into the sea.

Designed by Norwegian architecture firm Snohetta, it'll be half-submerged, resembling both a periscope and sunken ship.

The name, Under, is a play on words - in Norwegian, "under" can also mean “wonder”.

As the restaurant becomes a reef, interdisciplinary teams will be invited to study marine behaviour and fish biology - aiming to optimise conditions for fish and shellfish in close proximity to the restaurants, meaning more choice for seafood lovers.
